Sri Lanka crushed Australia in the Only T20I at Perth by a comprehensive margin of 7 wickets as the visitors chased a moderate target of 134 with 21 balls to spare. The victory was set up by the bowlers as Australia having won the toss and electing to bat first could never get going because of the extra bounce in the WACA pitch. It was not just the pacers who made use of the bounce but also the spinners especially the tall Suraj Randiv who got three wickets for the Man of the Match award.

Australia were in a mess when they slipped to 43 for 5 in 10.1 overs! Most of the batsmen got out playing the big shot on the up and miscuing them in the air. There was a 66-run stand for the 6th wicket between Brad Haddin (35 from 30 balls with 3 fours and a six) and Steven Smith (34 from 23 balls with 3 fours and a six) which helped Australia to a respectable total.

There was enough in the pitch for the Aussie bowlers to get their team back in the game but they were up against the experienced batting trio of Jayawardene, Dilshan and Sangakkara. Mahela Jayawardene scored a neat 24 from 16 balls before edging his big shot behind and after that first wicket. Sri Lanka then cruised to victory through a 71-run stand between Dilshan (41 from 34 balls with 6 fours) and Skipper Kumar Sangakkara (44* from 43 balls with 6 fours).
