Rajasthan, Mumbai and Tamil Nadu join Haryana into Ranji Semi-Finals

Three teams – defending champions Rajasthan, Mumbai and Tamil Nadu based on their first innings lead in their respective Quarter-Final Matches will join Haryana for this season’s Ranji Trophy Semi-Finals.

Three teams – defending champions Rajasthan, Mumbai and Tamil Nadu based on their first innings lead in their respective Quarter-Final Matches will join Haryana for this season’s Ranji Trophy Semi-Finals. Haryana had walked into the Semi-Finals yesterday itself when they pulled off an outright win over Karnataka.

The 1st Semi-Final will be between Haryana and Rajasthan at Rohtak while the 2nd Semi-Final will be between Mumbai and Tamil Nadu at Mumbai. Both the Semi-Finals are scheduled to take place between January 10-13.

Here’s the summary of the three remaining Ranji Trophy 2011/12 Quarter-Finals that were played today :

Hyderabad Vs Rajasthan at Uppal, Hyderabad : Young openers – P Akshath Reddy and Skipper DB Ravi Teja scored big centuries for Hyderabad in their second innings but that couldn’t stop Rajasthan’s entry in the Semis. Akshath Reddy scored 151 from 224 balls with 14 fours and 4 sixes while his opening partner DB Ravi Teja slammed 185 from 293 balls with a dozen fours. T Suman chipped in with a quick fire 59 from 51 balls with 8 fours as Hyderabad declared its second innings at 431 for 2.

Rajasthan chasing a target of 155 settled for a draw with a modest score of 25 for no loss in 20 overs. They won the Quarter Final based on their first innings lead as Hyderabad got bowled out for a paltry 144 in reply to their 421 total.

Madhya Pradesh Vs Mumbai at Indore : This Quarter-Final at the Holkar Cricket Stadium ended in a draw as Mumbai finished at 113 for 1 after being given a target of 233. Both Praful Waghela (51*) and Kaustubh Pawar (52*) helped themselves with unbeaten fifties. Earlier, Madhya Pradesh declared its second innings at 474 for 3 as Mohnish Mishra (174 from 231 balls with 10 fours and 5 sixes) and Skipper Devendra Bundela (101* from 132 balls with 8 fours) smashed entertaining centuries.

Mumbai entered the Semis as they had scored 434 in their first innings in reply to Madhya Pradesh’s 192.

Maharashtra Vs Tamil Nadu at Chennai : Tamil Nadu walked into the Semis thanks to their first innings lead. The hosts finished the match in a draw settling for 45 for 1 after being set a target of 140. Maharashtra had earlier declared its second innings at 322 for 4 with both its openers – Harshad Khadiwale (105 from 183 balls with 9 fours) and Chirag Khurana (102 from 230 balls with 12 fours) scoring centuries. Kedar Jadhav chipped in with 69 with 4 fours and 2 sixes.
