Sri Lanka waltzed their way to 153 in 26.3 overs on the final day of the Colombo Test to level the three-match series 1-1. After rain again delayed the start of play on the final day, Sri Lanka did not take any chances and went on an all-out attack from the word go. In the end, they tasted an easy victory by seven runs.

Looking for quick runs, Sri Lanka made a change in the batting order, and promoted Kithuruwan Vithanage to open the innings with Dimuth Karunaratne. The move worked as the duo added 49 inside seven overs before the latter was dismissed for 34 from 23 balls looking for a slop sweep. There was a minor blip for the Lankans when Kumar Sangakkara, who recently confirmed his retirement fell for a duck, first ball, caught at short leg off Yasir Shah's bowling.

Any nerves that were present in the Sri Lankan dressing room were however calmed as Karunaratne and Angelo Mathews added 72 for the third wicket. The opener was dismissed exactly on 50 off 57 balls, trapped lbw by Yasir.

Mathews (43 not out) then saw the team home in the company of Lahiru Thirimanne who made 20 not out as Sri Lanka levelled the series 1-1.
