Punjab made a solid start of 41 for no loss in 17 overs in reply to a formidable first innings total of 477 from hosts Saurashtra at Rajkot.

Saurashtra resuming Day 2 at 274 for 5 were helped by Kamlesh Makvana (85 from 216 balls with 12 fours) and Vishal Joshi (55* from 136 balls with 5 fours) to get to 477. Overnight batsman Sheldon Jackson who started the day on 70 went onto score 107 (from 172 balls with 16 fours and a six).

For Punjab, the pair of Siddharth Kaul and Sarabjeet Ladda took three wickets each. Harbhajan Singh who is eyeing a Test comeback could only pick two wickets in his 37 overs.
