Australia dismissed the Sri Lankans openers before close of play on Day 4 after having set a target of 393 to the visitors in the first Test at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. Sri Lanka are 67 for 2 in 37 overs with Dilshan falling early to Watson for 11 and Karunaratne for 30 to Starc.

Australia dismissed the Sri Lankans openers before close of play on Day 4 after having set a target of 393 to the visitors in the first Test at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. Sri Lanka are 67 for 2 in 37 overs with Dilshan falling early to Watson for 11 and Karunaratne for 30 to Starc.

Earlier in the day, Australia resuming the morning at 27 for no loss were bowled out for 278 in 73.5 overs. Skipper Michael Clarke played a breezy knock of 57* from 46 balls with 5 fours and a six before retiring hurt with a hamstring injury. Openers Ed Cowan with 56 (from 137 balls) and David Warner with 68 (from 119 balls with 5 fours and a six) provided the hosts a strong start of 132 for the first wicket.

The Sri Lankans found some success with the ball with left-armers Chanaka Welegedara taking three wickets and Rangana Herath picking up 5 for 96.
