West Indies ended their disastrous Australia Tour with a consolation win in their Only T20I at the Gabba in Brisbane. A strong batting performance from the tourists saw them record a 27-run win over a new look Australian outfit.

Batting first on a flat track after winning the toss, West Indies made best use of the conditions to pile up 191 for 6. Young opener Johnson Charles led the way with a 35-ball 57 with 7 fours and a six. Kieron Pollard with 26 (from 17 balls), Andre Russell with 23 from 11 balls and Skipper Darren Sammy with 20 from 7 balls came up with cameos to lift the West Indian total. For the Aussies, James Faulkner bowled well for his 3 for 28 from 4 overs.

Australia were in the hunt to chase the big total with Adam Voges batting beautifully but a couple of run outs involving him opened the door for an easy West Indian victory. Voges, coming in at no.3 scored 51 from 33 balls (with 2 fours and 2 sixes) but couldn’t last the distance for the hosts who eventually settled with 164 for 8. Kieron Pollard was the most successful bowler for West Indies taking 3 for 30 which helped him get the Man of the Match award. Sunil Narine chipped in with 2 for 19 in 4 overs.
