Ali Brown (268): The county cricketer holds the record for the highest score in List A cricket. Opening the innings for Surrey against Glamorgan, he made 268 at the Kennington Oval in London on June 19, 2002. Brown’s knock came off 160 balls, and included 30 fours and 12 sixes before he was eventually bowled by Michael Kasporwicz. Brown’s knock, combined with Ian Ward’s 97 took Surrey to 438 for 5. Glamorgan gave a smashing reply with Robert Croft and David Hemp blasting centuries. Unfortunately, they fell short of the target by nine runs.

Graeme Pollock (222*): The South African legend came up with the score for Eastern Province against Border at Jan Smuts Ground, East London on October 19, 1974. Pollock came in to bat at number four in the match, which was a 60-overs-per-side clash, and led Eastern Province to a massive 372 for 5. The innings also saw opener Arthur Short scoring 115. In reply, Border managed only 166 for 2 in their stipulated 60 overs.

Jamie How (222): The New Zealand batsman, opening the innings for Central Districts against Northern Districts, notched up 222 from 138 balls at Seddon Park, Hamilton on March 6, 2013. How’s knock featured 27 fours and eight sixes. The other opener Jeet Raval made 115 from 106 balls as Central Districts amassed 417 for 6 from their 50 overs. Five batsmen from the Northern Districts got half-centuries, but they still fell short by 19 runs.

Mohammad Ali (207): This innings came in a group game of the Patrons Cup, Pakistan’s domestic tournament. Ali’s knock was scored for Pakistan Customs against Defence Housing Authority at the Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot on April 4, 2005. Pakistan Customs batted first and Ali made 207 as the side notched up a massive total of 395 for 5 in their 50 overs. Ali got good support in the match from two other players –Nasim Khan and Afsar Nawaz -- both of whom got half-centuries. In reply, Defence Housing Authority were cleaned up for 224 as Stephen John grabbed 5 for 58.

Alvin Kallicharan (206): The West Indian legend made an impressive double century in a county clash for Warwickshire against Oxfordshire at Edgbaston, Birmingham on July 4, 1984. Kallicharan came in to bat at number three and made the big score. Opener David Smith also got 101, but it was Kallicharan’s double ton than led Warwickshire to a huge total of 392 for 5 in 60 overs. Oxfordshire were very poor in reply, with Geoffrey Ford being the only batsman managing a half-century as they were bowled out for 165. Kallicharan shone with the ball as well, ending with magnificent figures of 6 for 32.
